We carry a few stepper motors that are sized to work well with the Gecko G540. For machines such as a Taig or Sherline with leadscrews the best fit is the 166 oz-in motor. A larger motor will not improve the performance of your machine. For a Taig with ball screws or larger machines the 276 motor would be a better choice. The 380oz-in NEMA 24 motor has the same mounting flange as the NEMA 23 but the body is a few MM larger. A few MM may not seem like much but it makes all the difference in the world. The 380oz-in NEMA 24 motor is shorter and weighs about the same as the 276oz-in NEMA 23 and is a bit better in the acceleration department too. For you guys with the larger router tables this may be the motor you are looking for as it gets you in the power range of the NEMA 34 motors at a much lower price.
Choosing the correct motor for your application can be tricky. If you have any doubts please contact us. We will help you find the best motor for your application even if it is one we don't sell. All motors come with a Molex 3.0mm MicroFit connectors installed, the NEMA 24 is wired in parallel for use with the G540. We have the mating connectors and pins in stock and offer them as an option. The optional connector kit comes with the connector body a five pins (one extra); you will need a crimping tool to crimp the pins to the wire. We can also custom make stepper motor cables see the links at the bottom of the page.
